The 28-year-old joined Margate in the summer of 2021, and played a big role that year, appearing 47 times and becoming a fan favourite for his trickery in the final third!
The next season in Blue, Bessey made 30 appearances, finding game time hard to come by towards the end of the season, so he went on a dual registration deal to Bearsted. James spent 2023/24 at Sheppey United, where he performed brilliantly, and his most notable moment was scoring a screamer on live tele in the FA Cup first round proper, against Walsall!
Ben Greenhalgh said: “Bessey was a player that always excited the fans at Margate, we know exactly what we’re going to get from Bessey with quality and pace. He’s proven in the last season with Sheppey how effective he can be in this league, and if we can add goals to the amount of assists he gets, he’ll be unstoppable!”
