Congratulations, Gate Academy Graduates!

Congratulations, Gate Academy Graduates!

As the academic year draws to a close, it is a good time to look at the exit routes of current academy players.

Of course, our players all await their results in the summer but all being well they have exciting futures ahead of them.

University

University is a destination for many of our students who study at Level 3. Sam Anderson, who is studying an A Level programme at Herne Bay High, is heading to the University of Kent to undertake a degree in Film (with a year abroad).

Seb Gallagher is moving on to Liverpool John Moores University in September, following a Sport Science route at a university which will offer Seb great networking opportunities. LJM’s will also provide Seb with a decent standard of university football to continue his progression.

Ben Thornby, who joined the Academy from Manwoods Grammar School, is starting a career in Radiography, with Canterbury Christ Church being his chosen university. Although Ben may well defer his place until next year.

Callum Edwards, who has completed a BTEC programme with us, has accepted an offer from UCFB and will be attending their Wembley campus – yes, studying at the national stadium! UCFB are specialists in offering degree programmes in the football and sports industry. This is an amazing opportunity for Callum.

Ever present in goal for the Academy over the last two years has been Kyle Simmons. Kyle will be embarking on a Law degree at Christ Church University.

Alfie Eyles is also staying local and reading Finance and Accounting at the University of Kent.

Apprenticeships

University is not the only choice when leaving Margate's Academy. Apprenticeships have also proven very popular.

Marcus Clement, who has been outstanding at right back for the academy, has accepted an electrical engineering apprenticeship and starts his training this summer.

Employment

Finally, there are many students who decided that full time employment is the best route for them. Those who have completed vocational fitness qualifications at Level 2 and Personal Training qualifications at Level 3 are moving straight into paid employment.

This year demonstrates the huge range of choices available to those who leave the Academy and we wish everyone the best of luck as they take the next step in their careers. Congratulations to you all.
