A dry blustery day and a good size crowd to Support the Margate Ladies push towards promotion. Margate started the first half well and were rewarded half way through the first half when a great move involving Kara Richardson run down the left wing and cross was met by the incoming Megan Cavell was duly despatched and the home side went one nil up . The goal scorer was then injured and missed the remainder of the game. Margate Ladies however were looking for a second and were denied by the post and bar as the Ladies continued to dominant. Margate restricted their opponents in creating any chances but a long range free kick found the back of the net to tie the scores up at half time.
The second half saw Margate dominant again and was rewarded when Beth Cooper scored from an acute angle. Margate came close several times again looking to put the game out of Vinters reach. Any Vinters attacks were dealt with by the excellent Emerald Scannell who marshalled the defence sublimely, was assisted by Emily Mount y, Morgan Theodosiou and Becky Wainwright. A change in formation was nearly rewarded when Margate continued to press with Beth Cooper hitting both posts .The Midfield of Lauren Kidd, Jemma Powell , Poppy Green and Rhyanna Bailey worked hard all day long.
The introduction of Danielle Green and Chelsea Cornish added the extra resilience when needed. Sarah Andrews in goal with a safe pair of hands insured that no further goals were conceded. In the dying minutes Kara Richardson was brought down in the box and a penalty duly given, Kara calmly dispatched the penalty to captain Margate to a deserved 3 - 1 victory and three more points.
A great all round performance with all player making a worthy contribution. Nine wins from twelve games and a superior goal difference puts Margate Ladies into second Place with Two games left and one point required for promotion. Margate Ladies travel to Gillingham on Sunday 26th March to take on Anchorians Development.
