Despite controlling the majority of the first half it was the hosts who created the first chance as Casey broke free in the box only for Lenny Pidgeley to save well with his feet. It was the hosts that continued to create half chances as Dawodu and Matt Bourne were both denied by the Blues shot stopper.
Margate created their first real chance on 29 minutes as Frannie Collin released Harry Stannard but the former Hastings Striker saw his effort fly well wide of the Faversham goal. The deadlock was broken just six minutes later as Alex Flisher showed pure strength down the left to shrug off a challenge before squaring the ball along the six yard line for Bodkin to tap home into an empty net.
The visitors doubled their lead in the dying seconds of the first half as a back pass to Simon Overland who slammed his kick straight into the back of Alex Flisher who was closing down only for the ball to loop under the bar to double the Gate’s lead.
The second half saw very little goal mouth action as both sides used it as an opportunity to introduce substitutes to give their squad the maximum opportunity for game time.
The only real chance of the second half fell to the hosts as Kieron Lightfoot crashed a fantastic 25 yard effort goalwards only for Lenny Pidgeley to pull off an incredible save to deny the fantastic effort.
Margate continue their pre-season campaign this Saturday 22nd July 2017 as they travel to the Aspect Arena to face Vanarama National League South side Concord Rangers with kick off at 3pm.
