Brodie: "The Boys Were Gutted,, But It Was A Good Point"

New Margate loan Midfielder Cameron Brodie said the squad was “gutted” to not earn all three points on Friday night at home to Horsham, as the ‘Gate prepare for a Bank Holiday Monday visit to Cray Wanderers.

The Dartford Midfielder joined the Blues on a one-month loan on Thursday, and was thrown straight into the side to face Horsham on Friday evening. Despite not being able to hold on to their 1-0 lead, Brodie insists it was a good point for the ‘Gate.

“The boys are gutted that we couldn’t get the three points. Horsham are a good team and will definitely be up there at the end of the season so at the end of the day it is a good point”.

The Blues took the lead in the 60th minute, however were level just moments later as Lucas Rodrigues levelled up for the visitors, and Brodie admits that the boys “lost their heads” after taking the lead.

“For a few minutes after we scored we just lost our heads and they equalised pretty quickly. It is disappointing to concede so quick after scoring, but like I said it is a good point against a good team”.

The Midfielder who won Supporters Player of the Year at Cray Wanderers last season where he spent the year on loan didn’t have much to say on his own performance, however admits that the difference in Isthmian Premier football and National League South is minimal.

“I did ok, that’s it. The only difference between Isthmian Premier football and National League South is just fitness. There are plenty of players in this league who should be playing higher”.

The ‘Gate continue their Isthmian Premier Division campaign on Monday as they travel to Hayes Lane to face Cray Wanderers, kick-off is 3pm.
