Horsham v Margate - 25th February
Margate travel to Sussex this evening looking to make their first cup semi-final since 2015 as they face Horsham in the Velocity Trophy. The Blues last reached the last four of a competition five years ago when they reached the semi-finals of the Kent Senior Cup eventually losing to Gillingham on penalties.
Jay Saunders side have drawn their previous four league games, having shared the spoils with Carshalton on Saturday afternoon at Hartsdown Park. The Hornets kept up their play-off charge alive with Saturdays 2-0 win over Cheshunt moving them to 6th in the BetVictor Premier League, just two points off the play-off places.
Margate reached the quarter-finals after a 3-1 away win at Wingate & Finchley whilst Horsham progressed last week to the last eight with a 5-0 win over Burgess Hill Town. This year’s Velocity Trophy will have a new teams name on it with none of the last eight teams have won the League cup in their history.
Manager Jay Saunders will be without Liam Friend who has returned from injury but misses tonight’s game after being cup tied, meanwhile Kadell Daniel remains side-lined as he serves the second of his three game ban after being sent off away at Brightlingsea Regent.
The Blues will travel to the World Community Stadium buoyed by the fact that they are one of only two teams to have won at the Hornets new home having recorded a sensational 3-0 win in November thanks to goals from Noel Leighton, Kieran Monlouis and Adem Ramadan which topped the then league leaders.
Kick off at the World Community Stadium is 19:45 and admission prices are as follow:
