End of Season Award Winners
Margate FC and Margate Supporters Club hosted an End of Season Presentation Evening on Saturday to celebrate the 2017/18 campaign.
Looking back on a season focused on stabilising the football club, there were many highlights to reflect on.
Performances on and off the pitch were recognised besides lots of thanks and praise heaped upon the club’s volunteer workforce who help drive the football club forwards.
From Club Photographer Don Walker, to stewards, programme sellers, shop assistants and more, The Gate simply could not operate without the countless hours individuals give to help the club operate.
For the Awards themselves, Liam Friend was crowned the Supporter’s Player of the Year followed closely by Jordan Chiedozie in second place and Dave Martin in third. Goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley picked up Away Supporters Player of the Year and Chiedozie collected the club’s Golden Boot Award.
Steve Watt selected Tom Wynter as Manager’s Player of the Year, whilst there was nothing to separate Wynter and Chiedozie as Players’ Player for the endeavours over the campaign.
Under 23s Manager Jay Stubberfield was on hand to celebrate his title winning side’s season and presented his Manager’s Award to Bradley Rudd, whilst Players’ Player went to Sidney Warden.
The club’s Ladies side also reflected on a battling season with plaudits given across the team as The Bluebirds push to secure their league position following consecutive promotions.
Margate’s Walking Football Club were also celebrated with the Golden Boot award going to David Bough, Players’ Player to Richard Cowell and Clubman to John Clark.
Moving away from the field of play, Chairman Terry Painter and Manager Steve Watt both acknowledged the vast improvements made over the past 12 months and thanked fans for their continued support.
Three special contribution awards were given out on behalf of the club to former Chairman Alistair Bayliss, former Club Secretary Ryan Day and Ken Tomlinson.
The Supporters Club also paid their own tribute to Bayliss, presenting him with their Unsung Hero Award.
The most poignant moment of the evening arrived with the presentation of Supporter of the Year which was given to loyal fan Jim Dow who sadly passed away during the season. Jim’s wife Val was presented with the award, in a fitting tribute to Jim’s dedicated support.
Photos from the evening are now available on our Facebook page.
