Skipper Calls For Great 2017 Finale
It’s been a busy December for The Gate, with the festive fixtures coming in thick and fast. After Tuesday evening's 4-2 victory against Brightlingsea, Hartsdown Park sets the stage for another tough Bostik League clash this weekend.
On Saturday, the club hosts its final game at Hartsdown for 2017. To mark the occasion, The Blues are holding a Christmas Party from 12pm. An event planned for fans of all ages to enjoy, it's a match-day experience Club Captain James Rogers hopes supporters will get behind in full force.
"After a very tough first half of the year, this season the squad has really come together and we've ground out some good results and are making Hartsdown at tough place for teams to visit."
"With so much planned before, during and after the game, hopefully fans will be able to come down and act as a 12th man to help us push further towards the place off places."
Focusing on Saturday's opposition, Rogers believes there's an added festive spice, with the team looking to avenge their 1-0 defeat at the Harry Abrahams Stadium back in August.
“It’s another big-league game for us. We weren't happy to drop points at their place and with it being the final game of 2017 at home, we want to make sure we send the fans home happy for Christmas.
"
Rogers added, “When Hartsdown is busy and buzzing it makes a huge difference for the boys. I think that was clear to see on Tuesday evening. We fell short of our own standards in the first half but were able to pick it up and keep the unbeaten run going another game."
"The number of games is going to be a challenge for all players at this level but we’ve managed to get some good wins and we know we’ve got loads more games coming up here in January, so every point is important. We want all three as an early Christmas present for fans on Saturday.”
