Margate Supporters Club Notes

Good afternoon and welcome back at Hartsdown Park where we entertain the league rivals Brightlingsea Regent in the Bostik Premier League.

With the changes afoot at the football ground with the new stadium development due to start at the end of the season Margate Football Supporters Club are going through changes themselves.

Our outgoing (in more ways than one) Chairman, Terry Scott, is moving upwards to a new role of Club Liaison, having direct links to the board to put the Supporters Club position to the Directors to strengthen our ties with the Club.

Terry is replaced as Chairman by long term supporter, Malcolm Sherry and assisted by new Vice Chairman Poppy Cooper. Poppy also takes up the role as Events Co-ordinator. The last eight months have been stressful enough for the committee so with the new blood and stronger relations with the football club more events will be staged for the benefit of the Margate Supporters.

Frankie Empson retains the roles of Secretary and Treasurer whilst the other committee places are filled by long serving Alan Bonner ( good to see him back after his recent operations) and Alan Swinnock. Other members can and will be co-opted onto the full committee or specific sub committees as and when required.

Coinciding with this refreshed Supporters Club committee are the closer ties we will have with the club and its officials with monthly meeting being held at the club with Margate FC General Manager, Deny Wilson. At these concerns from either the supporters or the club can be thrashed out and resolved along with events planned that either side want to stage that both the club and the supporters can work together to put on.

Additionally stronger links are to be formed with other sectors of the Margate Football Club family with representation from the Margate Youth, Under 23s, Academy, Ladies team and Walking Football team meeting together with the main board so that everyone is aware of what is happening with each group.

All in all with a new found optimism generating around Hartsdown Park we feel we can be part of a forward thinking team. We would like you as fans to be with us as part of this happy band.

Don’t forget to visit the Supporters Club hut by the turnstiles for your 50/50 tickets, membership forms, details about away trips and any other information concerning the Supporters Club. Membership of the Supporters Club this year has been frozen again at £7 for adults and £5 for concessions and a special £1 membership for under 16s.

There will also be a notice board by the hut giving information about forthcoming fixture for the First, Under 23s, Ladies and Walking Football teams as well as anything else that keeps the fans informed.

Remember the Supporters Club is the voice of the fans when dealing with the club and will raise any matter through a meeting with the clubs General Manager and report back to you as soon as possible.
