FOOTBALL IS BACK!!

The 2022/23 Isthmian Premier Division season starts with the visit of Kingstonian to Hartsdown Park on Saturday afternoon.

Margate will be looking to build on their 8th place finish last season, with new manager Andy Drury looking to instill a hardworking ethos into the club's philosophy for the upcoming season. “When you play for me and you play for Margate, you give it absolutely everything while you are on that pitch and if you’re not giving it 100% effort on the pitch, you'll come off and sit with me”.

Margate’s pre-season ended with a 2-1win away at Sittingbourne last Friday, as the ‘Gate’s pre-season saw them win five, and lose four from their nine friendlies.

Manager Andy Drury will have a full squad to choose from after Harrison Hatfull, Taylor Fisher and Peter Ojemen returned to training this week ahead of the league opener.

Kingstonian finished last season in 10th position with 17 wins, eight draws, and 17 losses. Their pre-season results saw them win five times and lose three from their eight games.

Ironically, this fixture was last played as the last game of the 2021/22 season in what turned out to be former Manager Jay Saunders last charge, which the Blues won 2-1 in April with goals from Louis Collins and Vance Bola.

Turnstiles open at 1:30pm, however we will be showing the live televised Premier League fixture between Aston Villa and Everton at 12:30pm in the Hartsdown Bar so supporters wishing to view this game should enter via the main doors to the Hartsdown Bar situated in the car park.
