Knight: "Award is Appreciated"

Margate Defender Lewis Knight says he “appreciates” winning the February’s Player of the Month award, after winning 47% of all votes cast in the latest poll.

Knight played his part in an unbeaten February for the ‘Gate, which included five clean sheets in the league, as well as netting two goals, including a 90th minute winner against Horsham at Hartsdown Park.

“I really appreciate everyone that voted. It was a fantastic month for us. As I have said before, being part of defence I really enjoy the clean sheets, but to get a couple of goals as well is a bonus”.

The centre-half has missed the last two games through injury, however he does hope to return this weekend as the ‘Gate head to Worthing in the Isthmian Premier Division.

“It is a strange injury as it is a niggle, but I am talking to the physio every day and just making sure I don’t rush back too soon”.

“Having said that I am hoping to be back Saturday, and will be doing everything I can to hopefully return for what is a big game”.

Knight recognises that the club are approaching the business end of the season, however he refuses to look ahead further than Saturday’s crucial clash away at Worthing.

“I have said before that I never look too far ahead otherwise you forget to see what is in front of you. Saturday will be a tough game and we will certainly have to show our metal to get the win that we hope we can”,

Lewis will receive his trophy from Season Ticket Holder Neil Keeley who was drawn randomly today to present the trophy at our home game against Haringey Borough on Saturday 19th March.

Lewis Knight is sponsored this season by Kieron Rocke both Home and Away.
