INTERVIEW / Chiedozie Hits 30 Goal Landmark
Chiedozie Hits 30 Goal Landmark
Thirty goals by February.
It’s not been a bad season so far, for in-form striker Jordan Chiedozie.
Having signed from Concord Rangers in August, Chiedozie has settled well into life at Hartsdown Park with his hunger, work-rate and impressive goal tally making him a firm favourite amongst fans already.
Securing Saturday’s match-winner against Lowestoft, Chiedozie notched a landmark 30th goal and is hoping to sustain his fine scoring run throughout the month and beyond.
“I’m pleased to reach 30 goals and get us another three points. It wasn’t our best performance of the season as a team, so it was an even sweeter goal to get and could prove to be a big three points at the end of the season.”
“We were asking lots of questions of Lowestoft and should have got a couple more. But we can’t have any complaints, we’re on five wins in a row and have shown that even when we’re not playing as well as we would like, we can work together and get the points.”
After a positive start to 2018, Chiedozie’s ambitions are set high to propel The Gate further upwards whilst chasing the Bostik League’s Golden Boot.
“We had a lot of games in Janaury and it’s been a good spell for me and the team. Confidence is high and for me personally, I’m enjoying the run and trying to get the team as many goals as possible.”
“I’ve set personal targets I want to meet. I just focus on what I can bring the team and work hard to do my job and get the ball in the back of the net.”
With chants of Jordan’s name ringing around Hartsdown Park at full time, the young Gate striker was quick to praise the warm welcome he’s had since joining the club.
“The fans have been great to me since day one. It’s always nice to hear the support and see before and after games that people want you to do well. I’m pleased to be re-paying that support and long may it continue.”
