Horsham - 5th February 2022

Margate welcome Horsham FC to Hartsdown Park on Saturday as they look to improve on last weekend’s 4-0 away defeat at Enfield Town in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Herne Bay in the Velocity Trophy went someway to moving on from last weekend’s performance, however league points will be top of the agenda for Jay Saunders and his squad on Saturday.

The Blues have Goalkeeper Ben Bridle-Card back in training, however this weekend may come too soon, if that is the case Margate still have on-loan Maidstone goalkeeper Billy Johnson available.

The visitors travel to Hartsdown Park with one former ‘Gate player in their ranks in the shape of former Margate full-back Chris Sessegnon. The Hornets also come into this fixture on the back of a Velocity Trophy win on Tuesday as they progressed with a 3-1 home win over Isthmian South east side Hythe Town.

Horsham currently sit 13th in the league standings having endured a mixed bag of results lately, however recent history against Margate is in their favour.

In the reverse fixture in November, a 94th minute goal condemned Margate to a 2-1 defeat, whilst the Sussex side also dumped Margate out of the Velocity Trophy at the semi-final stage in the 2019/20 season, however the Blues did earn a 3-0 away win at Horsham that season.

Incredibly due to COVID and being in separate divisions before then, this will be Horsham’s first visit to Hartsdown Park in almost 10 years, when Margate ran out 2-1 winners in March 2012.

Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm, but as always if you can’t join us then you can stay right up to date on the clubs official Twitter feed @margate_fc from 2:30pm.
