Cup Progress For 'Gate Against East Grinstead
The Blues gave a first start of the season to Ben Swift and Harry Stannard as they looked to reach the next stage of the competition against an East Grinstead side that were struggling at the wrong end of the Bostik South table.
It was the visitors who gave the hosts an early scare as Marcus Elliott was almost released through on goal but Swift was alert to cut out the early danger.
Margate were then kicked into life and took the lead on eighteen minutes as Stannard coolly slotted home Matt Bodkins cross past the outstretched hand od Oshane Brown in the visitors goal.
1-0 soon become 2-0 as Chris Sessegnon swung in a delightful ball for Jordan Chiedozie to slam home to double the Gate’s advantage.
Jordan Chiedozie grabbed his second goal of the game in the 53rd minute as a long ball from Liam Friend fell to the striker who raced through and slid the Blues out of sight.
The visitors weren’t to leave without scoring though and they were handed a consolation penalty in the 84th minute for handball which Elliott smashed home to make it 3-1.
