Woodcoombe Women (A) - 13th August 2023

Margate continue their pre-season schedule this afternoon as they travel to Woodcoombe, with both team’s keen to fine-tune their tactics and prepare for the upcoming season, this match holds significant importance for both sides.

Margate Women enter this fixture after a couple of weeks without a match. This break may have allowed them to regroup and focus on their strategies, making them a formidable opponent for Woodcoombe. With only three home games left in pre-season, Margate will be determined to make the most of this away fixture and showcase their progress.

The last encounter between these two teams took place in a summer tournament back in June, where Margate narrowly defeated Woodcoombe in the final.

For Woodcoombe Women, this match serves as an opportunity to test their side against a strong opponent from their new league following promotion last season.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm with updates available via the Women’s Twitter page. The Women are next at Hartsdown Park next Sunday at home to Betteshanger at 2:30pm.

Women Win PSF In Style

Margate FC Women travelled to newly promoted Woodcoombe on Sunday afternoon as they continued their pre-season schedule.

After a two-week gap in fixtures, both teams were eager to get back on the pitch.

The Blues wasted no time in asserting their dominance, as they netted the first two goals within three minutes of the match. The visitors displayed their attacking prowess and quickly took control of the game. With their relentless pressure, Margate managed to extend their lead to 5-0 by half-time.

However, the second half was not without its challenges. In the 59th minute, Woodcoombe's goalkeeper clashed with a player while making a save, resulting in a split lip. The injury caused a ten-minute stoppage in play and ultimately led to the goalkeeper being substituted.

Margate continued to play with high intensity and maintained their dominance throughout the match. Woodcoombe struggled to find a way past Margate's solid defence, and the visitors managed to keep a clean sheet.

In the closing minutes of the game, Margate's goalkeeper suffered an injury, leaving the team with no choice but to field an outfield player as a makeshift goalkeeper.

The final score saw Margate head home with a convincing 8-0 win. The team showcased their attacking strength and demonstrated their ability to convert chances into goals.

Margate Women will now turn their attention to their next pre-season friendly, where they will face Betteshanger at Hartsdown Park next Sunday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm, and tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here.

The 'Gate will be looking to build on their impressive performance and continue their preparations for the upcoming season, which starts away at Sittingbourne on Sunday 3rd September 2023.
