Margate welcome Hythe Town to Hartsdown Park on Saturday for their final pre-season work out ahead of the 2021/22 Pitching In Isthmian Premier season.

The ‘Gate have endured an indifferent pre-season in terms of results with three wins, one draw and five defeats, however a 5-2 win over Ramsgate last week saw them retain the Isle of Thanet Cup.

Hythe will include plenty of former Margate faces, including their manager Steve Watt and now first team coach Frannie Collin.

The Blues will continue to gain precious minutes in the tank ahead of the league opener away at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday 14th August.

Not only do we look foward to welcoming Hythe's senior side on Saturday, their under 9s will be in attendance too. Margate Youth FC host a Football Showcase from 12:45pm with both teams invited to be mascots for the match too.

Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 3pm with the turnstiles opening at 1:30pm.

Supporters who attended last week's game at Ramsgate can attend the game for free on the condition proof of receipt is brought to show at turnstilles. Tickets are also available to buy.

Blues Round Off Pre-Season With Win

Margate rounded off their pre-season with an impressive 2-0 win over Hythe Town at Hartsdown Park on Saturday.

The Blues dominated possession throughout and after a tight goalless first half, the Blues continued to dominate possession but struggled to break down a resolute Hythe defence.

The Blues eventually broke the deadlock in the 69th minute as a Ben Greenhalgh cross was headed home by “Trialist A”.

The ‘Gate secured the victory as Jake Embery superbly latched onto a through ball and dispatched confidently pass Will Godmon in the visitor’s goal to give the ‘Gate the perfect end to pre-season ahead of their league opener at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday.

Attendance: 231
