Margate v Met Police

Margate welcome Met Police to Hartsdown Park tonight (Tuesday) for a night of spooktacular Bostik Premier League action looking for three points which would move them just four points behind their opponents who currently hold the final play off place.

We are all set for a Halloween themed evening with lots of activities for all those attending but Margate will be looking to avoid a horror show and get their league form back on track. Just two points in the league throughout October has seen the Gate slide to 14th in the division but an emphatic FA Trophy win on Saturday away at Staines Town has improved the mood around Hartsdown Park.

New signing Kane Haysman featured in that 3-0 win after signing from Kingstonian on Friday but goals from Jack Evans, Chris Sessegnon and Jordan Chiedozie eased Steve Watts’s side into the second qualifying round where they will now face either Bowers & Pitsea or Egham Town who play in a replay tonight after a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Tonight’s visitors won’t be scared of anything Hartsdown Park has to throw at them as they arrive unbeaten in 9 games and sitting 5th in the Bostik Premier League table. The Police secured an easy win over AFC Sudbury in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Despite their impressive form Margate will take heart in the fact that Jim Coopers side have only won once away in the league this season, a 2-1 away win at Kingstonian in September.

The visitors will bring with them a familiar face in the way of Ryan James who featured for the Gate under Terry Brown as they won promotion to the National League South, the midfielder scored twice for the Blues in an enthralling 4-4 draw with Hendon that season.

The ‘Gate will be without club captain James Rogers who serves a one game for accumulating five yellow cards so far this season so Lee Prescott could come into the starting eleven.

Kick off at Hartsdown Park is 7:45pm but remember the gates open at 6pm for our night of Halloween fun and if you can’t join us then you can stay right up to date on our Twitter @margate_fc from 7:15pm.
