Margate FC can confirm striker Jake Embrey has left Hartsdown Park.

Speaking about the departure, Manager Jay Saunders said:

“Jake has been a good lad, and good to have around the club. I think he needs a run of games after a spell out with Covid and a couple of injuries, a run would really help to get the best out of him.”

Saunders added, “Jake has shown his potential in glimpses including the FA Cup hat-trick but I feel with the way we play, there are people in front of him at the moment which is effecting his game time. So, we’ve agreed it would be good for him to move on and pursue first team football elsewhere.”

Supporters will have noticed a new face at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday evening as the Manager revealed he was able to make a new signing before the match against Brightlingsea.

Mason Saunders Henry joins the club on a dual registration from Welling United. However, it’s not the first time he has signed for the club, as the Gaffer explained:

“We actually signed Mason during the first season when football got suspended by Covid. Unfortunately, lockdown happened, Mason was meant to be going to play abroad but that got cancelled. He signed for Welling and we have always kept in touch.”

“I spoke to Peter Taylor to see if we could do a dual registration to get him in and he’s a player who will be a good addition to us. He will probably need a few games to get to speed with things, but he has pace and energy and I think he will be a welcome addition to the squad.”
