Watt: "Our Work Rate Was Immense"

Margate Manager Steve Watt hailed the influence of Margate Keeper Lenny Pidgeley as the Blues made it three wins in November out of three with a superb 2-0 away win at Lowestoft Town.

The Blues have the joint best defence in the division alongside Billericay with both sides only conceding 11 goals so far this term, albeit the Blues have played more games and Watt thinks he has the best goalkeeper at this level.

“The way we have defended this season has been extremely pleasing, our desire to not concede goals is something I’m extremely proud of. From front to back we have defended as a team superbly”.

“Having said that teams are going to create chances but when they do we are extremely lucky to have someone like Lenny in goal. In my opinion we have one of the best keepers at this level”.

The Blues needed a goal in each half from Kane Haysman and Jordan Chiedozie to keep their good form going but Watt paid credit to his side for their resilience on the road again.

“It is a long journey and the weather was freezing and the pitch was heavy but the boys put in a professional display which enabled us to get all three points. Our work rate is immense and we never take our foot off the gas and the boys deserve a lot of credit for that”.

Despite the win though Watt admitted that focus now turns straight to Tooting & Mitcham on Tuesday night in what will be another difficult away fixture.

“Tooting are resurgent at the minute and had a very good 3-2 win over Kingstonian on Saturday so we will have to be aware of the threat that they will pose but we know in our minds that it is another opportunity for us to earn another three points and close the gap on the top five”.
