Pidge Returns For Fundraiser
A familiar face returns to Hartsdown Park on Saturday 16th March to help a charitable cause close to the heart of Margate FC.
Last season’s Supporters’ Away Player of the Year, Lenny Pidgeley, will take part in an extra special half-time penalty shoot-out to support Club Groundsman, Graham Ives, who is currently training for the London Marathon.
Graham is raising funds for Children with Cancer, a leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.
Supporters will be able to try their luck against the former Chelsea, Millwall and Newport County shot-stopper by signing up to the round-robin competition for just £5 per adult.
Ivesy hopes supporters will get behind the fundraising endeavour and make the most of this unique opportunity.
“I’m really chuffed that Pidge has agreed to come back to Hartsdown to take part in this and help me raise money for a worthwhile cause. We have some great banter during our half time shoot-outs and I’ve got a feeling this one could become our most memorable.”
“I hope fans decide to get involved and help us raise money. I have done two sky dives, abseiled down cliffs but - mentally and physically – training for a marathon is the hardest thing I have done.”
“To complete the 26.2 miles will be a huge achievement but to reach my target for the charity will top it all.”
A bucket collection and raffle will also take place alongside the shoot-out during Margate’s Bostik League game against Merstham.
Participants will be able to sign up and donate via the Club Shop.
In the meantime, if you’d like to support Ivesy and make a donation, please visit his Virgin Money Giving page here.
