McDonalds Mascot Enjoys Afternoon

As part our partnership with McDonalds, Margate FC is able to welcome deserving young people from across Thanet to enjoy a special afternoon at Hartsdown Park.

Last Saturday Margate Under 11s goalkeeper Joshua, who was nominated by his Dad, came to be our McDonalds mascot for The Gate's clash with Hendon.

Joshua faces everyday struggles with medical conditions such and asthma, ezma, celiac disease, airborne allergies from which he has anaphylactic reactions. As a result, Joshua misses a little bit of schooling due to many hospital and doctors appointments.

As part of his nomination, Joshua’s Dad said:

“Being part of the Margate FC family really keeps Joshua’s spirits high. He absolutely loves playing for his team and we are always at the men’s home matches, where he loves the atmosphere and really enjoys watching his idol Lenny in goal.”

“I feel nominating him would be a lovely treat if he was to be picked for any home game.”

Joshua attended Saturday's game, enjoying the opportunity to meet Manager Steve Watt and the first-team squad and leaving with a signed shirt. Joshua had a pre-match chat with Chairman Alistair Bayliss and got a pitch side view of the team's warm up before leading the starting eleven out at 3pm.

Following the game, Joshua's Dad got in touch with the football club.

"I just want to say a huge thank you for your hospitality on Saturday and for making Josh feel so welcome on his McDonalds mascot day."

"He hasn't stopped talking about it and said his best bit was meeting the players in the changing rooms. He said they were really funny throwing haribos at each other!"

"He was thrilled with his signed shirt, so I'm going to put it in a frame with the program and some photos so he has it to remember."

"Once again a big thank to everyone at Margate FC for giving him such a great day. "
