Gate Fall To Defeat Versus The Ks

Margate fell to their first defeat since February after a polished performance from Kingstonian saw the visitors take three points from Hartsdown Park.

Kingstonian continued their fine away form, courtesy of a goal in each half, whilst Margate were reduced to 10 men for the fourth consecutive game with centre back Ben Swift dismissed.

The hosts started brightly with Jordan Chiedozie unleashing a curling shot after gathering possession down the right hand side, signalling The Gate’s attacking intent early on.

Centre back George Essuman forced Kingstonian’s keeper into a fine reaction save minutes later when he rose highest to Frannie Collin’s pinpoint set piece delivery.

Jay May was next to test Kingstonian, chesting the ball down and firing an effort goalwards but his shot was safely collected.

Margate appeared to break the deadlock when Swift poked home from close range but his goal was ruled out for an earlier foul in the box.

It was the visitors who eventually took the lead with Mo Faal granted too much time and space on the edge of the box, his deflected shot from distance beating Lenny Pidgeley in the Margate goal.

Margate Manager Steve Watt freshened up his attacking line up with the introduction of Bastelle Aristride who made a bright start latching onto a long range pass to get an effort just off target.

Essuman came close to scoring for The Gate when another bullet header was cleared off the line.

Kingstonian almost doubled their lead after a Pidgely save rebounded into the path of Williams who blasted his effort over with the net at his mercy.

The Ks did extend their lead in the 62nd minute when Jason Williams’ clinically slotted the ball beyond Pidgeley from within the box.

Margate were reduced to 10 men for the final period of the game, with young defender Swift was dismissed.

The Gate pushed for a way back into the match but Kingstonian held firm condemning The Blues to their first defeat in nine games.

Margate: Pidgeley, Bodkin, Essuman, Swift, Simpson, Rogers ©, Evans, Martin, Chiedozie, Martin (Aristride), May (Smith)
