Release The Pressure

Football is coming together over two weekends in February to kick off the biggest ever conversation around mental health through football, in support of the Heads Up campaign.

The Heads Up Weekends, which are taking place on the 8-9 and 15-16 February, will see every football team from across the Premier League, English Football League, The National League, The Barclays FA Women’s Super League, The FA Women’s Championship and The FA Women’s National League dedicate their matches to Heads Up.

The weekends will highlight the power of talking as a way to support one another and normalise what can often be thought of as a difficult subject, with activities taking place at fixtures across the men’s and women’s football calendar.

And whilst the campaign doesn't relate directly to teams in the BetVictor Isthmian League, we thought it would be beneficial to highlight again, a local campaign we are supporting here at Hartsdown Park.

Release The Pressure is funded and created by the Kent and Medway Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP), Release the Pressure urges people to seek help by calling Freephone 0800 107 0160 where support is available from trained and experienced staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The campaign website www.releasethepressure.uk also includes case studies from men in Kent who have turned their lives around after attempting suicide.

The club is helping support the campaign by displaying a board at Hartsdown Park besides including a full-page advert in every home match day magazine during the season.

General Manager, Deny Wilson, explained;

“We are extremely proud to support the Release The Pressure campaign. We believe football plays a powerful role within the local community, it can bring people together and start important conversations; none more so than mental health.”

“By embracing and promoting this important initiative throughout the season, we hope to raise awareness, break down some barriers and support those who need it most.”
