Supporters Club Chairman Appointed

Margate FC Supporters Club has recently gone through a re-shuffle of personnel.

Malcolm Sherry has been elected the new Chairman, replacing Terry Scott who after years of dedicated service, becomes the Supporters Club President.

Following his appointment, Malcolm revealed his long-lasting love affair at Hartsdown Park and outlined his vision for how the Supporters Club can play a positive and uplifting role.

“I have been watching Margate from the late 60's, when my Father would take my brother and I after playing for Salmestone School.”

“One game that stands out in those years of supporting The Gate, would be the FA Cup game against Spurs. Seeing that many people squashed into the ground, the TV cameras, the atmosphere was electric.”

In more recent history, there’s one memory in particular which stands out for Malcolm personally.

“In the last few years, winning promotion is up there but for sheer excitement on a cold, rainy afternoon it would have to be Nikki Bull's last-ditch equaliser in the last minute against Tonbridge Angels – that takes some beating!”

Looking forwards, Malcolm’s ambitions for the Supporters Club are clear.

“My hopes and wishes for the Supporters Club would be to bring the club together, the youth, the ladies and the senior sides; raise some money so that the coaches. managers and parents have some help with the ever-increasing financial burden, and the club to run as a family friendly place and for everyone to enjoy the Margate FC experience.”

We like the sound of that, Malcolm. We hope you enjoy your new role!
