Wingate and Finchley (A)
By Ryan Day
Saturday’s just haven’t been the same since the premature ending and eventual cancellation of Isthmian Premier Division football in November 2020.
But for the first time in nine months, Margate will compete in a Pitching in Premier Division fixture on Saturday as they head to North London to take on Wingate & Finchley.
For all Gate fans it will represent a return to some normality, most of us will dream of success, but all of us will be just thankful that competitive football is back.
Manager Jay Saunders could welcome three new signings into his squad after the arrivals of Pat Ohman, Joe Anderson and Vance Bola on Friday. Saunders could be without Jack Richards who continues to recover from a back injury, however he did make a return to the side in the friendly win over Hythe Town.
Wingate & Finchley, now managed by former player Marc Weatherstone have endured a mixed pre-season which includes three defeats in a row, with the latest a 3-2 defeat to Harrow Borough.
Kick off at the Maurice Rebak stadium is 3pm and for those not travelling you can keep up to date at the club's Twitter @margate_fc coverage sponsored by S an C Slatter.
