Margate named Goalkeeper Lewis Ward and new striker Reece Connolly in their starting eleven as they looked to end a torrid run which sees them propping up the rest of the National League table.
It was the hosts that started brightly with Connolly and Dean Morgan linking up well and on-loan Havant Midfielder Ben Swallow supporting from wide.
Daniel Akindayini who had the first opportunity of the afternoon but his shot was well saved by Jonathan North.
In an otherwise dour first half it was Crawley loanee Tajbakhsh who fired the Stones in front right on the half time whistle as he superbly crashed home an effort from 20 yards past Lewis Ward.
Margate dominated much of the second half with Man of the Match Swallow causing problems down the wing, however the hard working Connolly couldn’t find a debut goal for the Gate.
Both Morgan and Connolly continued to work hard but it was the Stones who came closest to adding a second as Former Gate Midfielder Danny Green saw his free-kick cannon back off the crossbar.
